How to clean and wax floor?
2010-04-28

In order to make our room looks clean and  bright, we need clean and wax our flooring .Simply waxing the floor won't help in this case as it will only add some shine to the floor but will not remove old stains and dirt underneath it.

Before doing this, you need the following items:

  1. Rubber Gloves
  2. Stripper
  3. Toothbrush
  4. Floor squeegee
  5. Several Scrub Pads
  6. Floor Sealant
  7. Fan
  8. Floor Wax
  9. Broom or Vacuum
  10. Three buckets
  11. Putty knife
  12. Cotton mop
  13. Wet Dry Vacuum
  14. Floor Scrubber

Before you start, make sure that you have all the above. To make your job easier, try to purchase the same brand of floor wax and stripper, usually they go along better.

  1. Remove all furniture - any rugs, pet bowls and other items from the floor
  2. Sweep or vacuum the floor throughout - make sure that you remove any loose dirt out
  3. Test the stripper - apply the stripper to the invisible area as some older floor can't withstand stripping
  4. Start waxing in small areas - make sure you start from the corner and work your way out to the exit. Plan to strip 2x4 sections at a time
  5. Dilute stripper according to the manufacturer's instructions
  6. Apply stripper - with the mop in 2x4 areas and try to avoid it getting into the floor cracks. Let it soak for a bit
  7. Scrape away wax buildups - by using floor scrubber with appropriate pads
  8. Remove old wax and stripper - by using combination of toothbrush, scrubbing pads and putty knife
  9. Pick up wax residue and stripper - into the waste bucket by using squeegee or vet-dry vacuum
  10. Mop the floor - if you used the stripper that require rinsing
  11. Allow the floor to dry - you can accelerate the process by using a fan if you have one
  12. Wax the floor and seal it - as soon as the floor completely dried Interworld Cleaning
