On July 11, the first session of international discussion about tile pasting safety and the tile adhesive development convened in Quanzhou City? Fujian Province. It was reported that this was the first meeting with international standard in homeland. China is a big tile country, regardless of the scale of production or export volume has occupied a very important position. At the same time, China is also a big country of tile consumption, accounting for one quarter of the world population, continuous and rapid development of the national economy, whether civilian or residential construction, the demand for the tiles are very great. However, China is not the ceramic production of power, regardless of the quality of products, or grade, or value-added, they have a big gap between the advanced countries, in particular the supporting material particular. 

The use is being more and more broad with our country tile production capacity growing. But in the course of use appears pasting problems which are relevant to safety and quality, such as bulge, exfoliation, cracking. The tile pasting safety and quality already becomes one of the major factor restricting development and use of tile. Moreover, in recent years, exterior wall lacquer becomes the new favourite, but is of great the trend substituting exterior wall tile. Of course it had own advantages, such as environmental protection, light quality, convenient construction and so on. However the weakness of exterior wall lacquer is obvious, that is, color retention time was comparatively short. Exterior wall lacquer being able to keep 10 years in color, which price is very expensive, it is very difficult to be accepted. By contrast, the color of ceramic tiles can be maintained at least 20 years. Therefore, the tile prospect is still advantageous, the adhesive extension becomes the key.

Some delegates even made a special trip to fly over from abroad to attend the meeting. It is learnt that the new tile adhesive in foreign countries has 70 years of history. With the development of petrochemical industry, polymer-based adhesive application has been very common, but China is still in the traditional cement mortar pasting stage. Therefore, the new tile adhesive not only involves the tiles of their own pasting security issues, more importantly, can change the traditional way of cement mortar pasting, improve the construction environment, reduce pollution and enhance construction efficiency. According to reports, although the amount of adhesive is only 30% of traditional cement mortar, pasting effect is four times or even more than the former. “China previously emphasizes product technology, but long ignores the problem of pasting.” ELOTEX global product manager Shawei sighed with emotion.

The session was sponsored by China Ceramic Industry Association, a ceramic tile business representative said after the meeting, this high-level international session made the concerns extend to the pasting link. This was the first time, and felt unsalted. That would be a profound impact to the ceramic industry's development.
