The materials are characterized by a manufacturing process that includes: Blending coarse silicon carbide or Corundum (fused alumina) grains with ceramic and metallic powders, pressing or casting the mix to the final shape, and firing the green body at high temperature under Nitrogen.
Integrated the best compositions and manufacturing know how of the former competitors: Norton, Carborundum, AnnaWerk and Savoie Refractaires, and developed a unique range of superior nitride bonded refractories.
The currently marketed materials are either silicon nitride, or silicon oxynitride, or SiAlON bonded.
